About Me
My name is Jude Fawakhiri, I am an architect, product designer and jewellery designer. I grew up in Amman, Jordan in a family of artists, and I hold a bachelors degree in Architecture from the German Jordanian University. I have worked in the fields of furniture, product and jewellery design since 2020, and have worked earlier in the field of architecture and furniture design in Stuttgart, Germany.
I am naturally drawn to the form, function and aesthetics of things- constantly having a critical eye and a curiosity of how things are made, how they function, and what purpose they serve. As a pianist who started learning how to play at the age of five, I also have a knack for working with my hands. Combined with an endless curiosity and a countless interests, this made me want to learn and try many things that range from making pottery on the potters wheel to making my own jewellery pieces.
I was introduced to the world of design and culture through my job as a designer in Turquoise Mountain Jordan back in 2020- and not until then did my design skills start to take shape. I have gained precious knowledge in the field of crafts and culture, especially in our region, and have participated in designing a number of pieces that were showcased in showrooms and museums around the world along with a creative team of designers and artisans.
Since I was a child, I’ve always found myself getting deeply fixated on the finer details— something which has always made me take extra time to ensure everything fell perfectly into place. As I grew up and gained a better understanding of myself, I figured that it was my keen eye for detail that had always been helping me create things that satisfy my perfectionist nature.
As someone who loves jewellery, I always collect pieces from wherever I go and love to style them in bold and interesting ways. I like to ‘break’ my calm style by adding unique pieces that are unconventional and that do not follow rules or fashion trends— something that is also reflected in my designs. To me, authenticity and individuality are two important themes that I do not compromise.
Today, I aim to combine my design knowledge with my personal style to create pieces that encourage uniqueness and individuality.
Junetwelfth is the platform where I will be sharing my journey through design.
Each piece I make goes through a long process of design and experimentation and is handmade locally by experienced artisans.
