Wearable Pieces
Designed for Turquoise Mountain Jordan
Year: 2023
I have designed these collections in 2023 when I was leading the jewellery department at Turquoise Mountain. Both these collections are made with the same concept; incorporating mother of pearl, as a material that is widely used among Syrian artisans in Jordan, in jewellery. This time, instead of inlaying mother of pearl as embellishment for woodworks, it would be carved and set in silver as a gemstone.
Maktab: Secretary Desk
This secretary desk was designed as part of the “From concept to store” program, implemented by Turquoise Mountain with the support of UNICEF in 2021. The program was comprised of a team of a woodwork apprentice, a desiger and a master woodwork artisan to design and produce a handmade furniture piece that would later be showcased in the showroom of Turquoise Mountain. The desk’s form and pattern were telling the story of a shared nostalgic experience of the designer and the apprentice.

This collection of hand-carved stone objects was designed to showcase the flexibility of working with local stones, such as basalt, travertine and Ma’an limestone. The detailed stepped or fluted forms challenged the stone apprentices and artisans’ skills and creativity. The collection features items such as bookends, plates and candle holders.
BMZ One World Award Trophy Medal
This trophy that is handmade from 925 Sterling Silver was designed at Turquoise Mountain Jordan for the One World Award which honors people and projects that make the world a better place. The project was facilitated through the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (Germany).
The design features an Earth globe with orbits that mechanically rotate around it. Making it requires a lot of skill and precision.
